Automobiles in German City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm
Local Police
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state initial examinations indicate the substance was likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A senior political figure said the incident rendered him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
