EU Officials Condemn US Action as ‘Intimidation’
Officials from Europe such as the French president accused the US administration of “bullying and threats”, following the visa restrictions were placed on individuals that were central to efforts to enact legislation governing US-based technology firms.
“For far too long, European activists have led organised efforts to coerce American platforms to punish US perspectives they disagree with,” stated a senior US official in a social media post. “This government will no longer tolerate such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”

Nations including Germany, Spain, and the UK, alongside numerous EU representatives supported the French president in condemning the decision.
The restrictions were imposed on Tuesday against an ex-European commissioner involved in crafting the EU’s digital governance law, as well as several anti-disinformation campaigners, from Germany and the United Kingdom.
