The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure About Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
